Bandai and Tamashii Nations have been creating great figures of Western properties like DC and Marvel for the past few years now with their SH FiguArts brand, this time around, there are two new pieces which we have just received. First off, there is the Star-Lord figure from this year’s Guardians of the Galaxy V2. Peter Quill comes with two interchangeable heads, including a helmeted one and one bearing the likeness of actor Chris Pratt. Included in the set are his blasters, interchangeable hands and a few explosive effects so you can recreate scenes from the summer blockbuster. Bandai doesn’t just concentrate on the newer stuff however, as they have also recently released a Joker from the 2008 film, The Dark Knight, based on the late Heath Ledger’s award-winning portrayal of the Clown Prince of Crime, the Joker features interchangeable faces, hands as well as character appropriate accessories like a gun and a playing card. Fans of SH FiguArts know just how well these figures are articulated and are used to the quality sculpting and ability for customization that these allow you.
One of the Eastern properties Bandai has created figures for in the past and thru to the present is the popular anime/manga, Sailor Moon. Funko has been carving out a niche for the past few years with their POP line of vinyl collectibles and they have been making Anime characters for the last two years or so. Sailor Moon has been a decent seller for them and most of series 2 is now in stock. Sailors Pluto, Uranus and Neptune, as well as Sailor Chibi Moon are all available for purchase now, along with pocket POP keychains of Sailor Moon and Sailor Chibi Moon. No word as to when Sailor Saturn will arrive, but hopefully it will be soon.
Celebrating it’s 80th(!) Anniversary this year is Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. To commemorate the occasion, Funko has created POP vinyls of Snow White, plus Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, Sneezy and the Evil Queen’s Witch persona, complete with poisoned apple. These have been selling rather briskly, so if you love Snow White, I would act soon.
Briefly:
Recent horror blockbuster, It will make its presence known on our shelves with the release of the Pennywise POP vinyl. That should be in stock sometime this week.
Disney Afternoon fans can look forward to a couple of the articulated action figures being on our shelves this week as well. I believe we are getting Scrooge and possibly Darkwing Duck. Baloo from Tale Spin and the Rescue Rangers Chip and Dale will round out the series and should be along soon.
Last week saw the release of DC Collectibles’ DC TV action figures. You saw the Who’s Who entry for White Canary last week, but we also received the Atom and Kid Flash. Each figure features several points of articulation and accessories.
On the way soon will be Tweeterhead’s impressive Wonder Woman maquette based on the classic 1970’s TV series featuring Lynda Carter. Wonder Woman, the character has had a fairly decent year and she is set to grace our screens once again with the release of Justice League in a little over a week. Hopefully her good year continues on.
That’s all for me this week- See you next time!
