Rocket Girl Vol. 2 Launches To New Heights! – Graphic Spotlight

Rocket Girl Vol. 2 Answers All Of Your Questions. Especially What Lottery Numbers To Place This Week...

Rocket Girl Image Comics

Rocket Girl Vol. 2 launches onto shelves this week. Will the timey-wimey, wibbly-wobbly saga of DaYoung Johansson have a happy ending? Will the future be saved? Which future? And what qualifies as saved? The answers to the maddening questions will be answered by picking up this gorgeous second half of the time travel tale. Plus, the book’s creators, Amy Reeder (artist) and Brandon Montclare (writer) will be in the shop to celebrate the release with all you Planeteers (Planetonians? There has to be something catchy we can call ourselves).

For those of you still catching up to the now, let’s recap a little to help you along: DaYoung Johansson was prepared to destroy her future in order to save the world. A teenage cop who came back from 2013 to stop the rise of an evil corporation called Quantum Mechanics, DaYoung was stranded in 1986. After thinking she’d done her duty, DaYoung vowed to hang up her helmet and jetpack. But the past and present remain at war! And now DaYoung must continue to piece together the larger puzzle: The “future” she calls home shouldn’t exist at all!

Easily one of the best quality series from Image Comics in the last few years, Rocket Girl soars above all others who attempt to fly in her airspace. DaYoung is a cop with the righteousness of Dirty Harry – and maybe the right hook to match – strapped with a burden Marty McFly would fumble if he had to carry. The pacing of the narrative builds to a crescendo of consequences crushing the characters under Mr. Montclare’s pen and dazzlingly displayed by Miss Reeder’s vibrant panel layouts. This is a book flying at peak performance. For those of you who’ve been salivating for the second half of this saga the wait’s been worth it (while you’ve hopefully been reading the dynamic duo’s hit series at Marvel, Moon Girl & Devil Dinosaur).

Every day at Forbidden Planet the staff are asked, “What’s good out?” This. Rocket Girl. This is damn good and you should fly into the shop to pick it up,
