Even Mister Miracle can’t escape the clutches of DC Rebirth. And why should he? Scott Free’s one of the greatest creations of Jack Kirby’s DC hot streak. Of all the many standout characters from Kirby’s Fourth World of New Gods (and there are many that’ve survived to this day) Mister Miracle is one of the most enticing. An escape artist who outwitted Granny Goodness on Apokolips. Mr. Big Barda, the former female fury and one of Darkseid’s favorite weapons. A man who used the stage to set up a new life on Earth after traveling across galaxies. Scott Free has done just about everything. For a while, he was a member of the Justice League. Now, Scott must face his greatest challenge: Can he escape death? Mister Miracle #1 will pose and begin answering that question.
The dynamic duo behind Image Comics’ Sheriff of Babylon is tackling this Kirby creation head on! Tom King has been challenging expectations and delivering tantalizing tales on Batman. Meanwhile, Mitch Gerads breakthrough work on Punisher and recent Bat-book exploits have seemed to only hint at what he’s capable of delivering. The stakes for this team and this book are significant. Once again, King and company have another celebrated creator’s run to follow.
One of the biggest questions though is going to be how this Mister Miracle fits into the larger picture. Surely, the greatest escape artist of all time exploring the boundaries of death might come in handy when a certain all powerful blue figure comes into bigger picture later? And is this the same Scott Free from the Earth-2 series a few years back? There are plenty of questions and that’s exactly how it should be. Mister Miracle is about a man who can do the impossible. What feats will King and Gerads accomplish? Fortunately, we get to our first glimpse behind the curtain this week!
