Michael Gingold Ad Nauseum Signing at Forbidden Planet

Another killer Gingold signing at FPNYC!

Ad Nauseum Signing Gingold

As the fall season approaches, the weather starts to cool down, the leaves start turning that beautiful orange color and Forbidden Planet always has a spooky signing up their sleeves… and we can’t wait to let you know about this year’s killer event!

Get ready cause Forbidden Planet is beyond excited to welcome back genre film expert Michael Gingold, who will be here on September 20th from 6 to 8PM signing copies of his newest book Ad Nauseam: Newsprint Nightmares from the 1980s. Presented by Rue Morgue and 1984 Publishing this brand spanking new book is filled from cover to cover with eye popping newspaper ad’s for cult classics of arguably the greatest era in freaky flicks, the 1980s! Including rare and alternate art work for everything from beloved genre favorites like Child’s Play and A Nightmare On Elm Street, to totally wild obscurities like Kung Fu Halloween!?! But it’s not just a pretty picture book, it’s peppered with Gingold’s personal recollections, vintage movie reviews exposing critic’s original reactions and an interview with legendary fright film distributors Aquarius Releasing. Seriously, what more could you ask for?

Ok I know exactly what you’re thinking. That book isn’t supposed to come out until October, right? Well… yeah… BUT, Forbidden Planet has got the hookup, and we are more than happy to extend it to our FP Family. That’s right – you can get the book weeks early, signed by the author, and for cheaper than the cover price. Wait, did you just say cheaper than the cover price? That’s right, I did just say cheaper than the cover price. Come out to the event and get the book for just 29.99, that’s 5 bucks off of retail! Let’s just call it an early treat for all you tricksters.

What’s that you say? You can’t make it to the event… WEAK! But as usual Forbidden Planet has got your back. There will be a limited number of signed copies for pre-order on our website. So place your order now and we will have Michael autograph your copy, then we’ll ship it right to your door after the event on September 20th. This way you can sit home and binge all four seasons of ALF and still get an autographed copy of Ad Nauseam.

Matt D has been a manager, buyer and event coordinator at Forbidden Planet since 2005 or maybe it was 2006. Who can remember? We didn't even have computers back then. A native New Yorker from the borough of Queens, raised on Sunday Funnies, Monster Movies and Rock N' Roll. What better place to end up than Forbidden Planet where he can use his position to influence the city's pop culture. A responsibility he takes seriously more now than ever due to New York's consistent change for the worse. The last thing NYC needs is another cafe or bank so thank whatever it is you believe in that Forbidden Planet is here to stay. Beyond the walls of FP, Matt is a publicly recognized expert in cult and horror cinema with a focus on VHS. He is the founder of Horror Boobs a collective that books screenings and distributes weirdo films, the producer of the documentary Adjust Your Tracking: The Untold Story of the VHS collector, the publisher of the Blood Video zine, and is regrettably responsible for resurrecting the career of schizophrenic Shot-on Video director Carl J Sukenick.
