The Immortal Men made their debut in the finale of DC’s recent sales smash hit event, Dark Nights: Metal. There we learned of a team consisting of the oldest characters in the DC Universe. A secret grouping of heroes who have protected humanity from the safety of the background of history. Now, the Immortal Men must are about to become an endangered species unless their last best hope can save them all. Will this newest release celebrating DC’s initiative, The New Age Of Heroes, be a massive hit or a tragic miss?
This team is headed by one of the oldest characters from the catalogue of DC: The Immortal Man. The team has been waging a secret war against the House of Conquest for, well, it seems like forever. Except now, the bad guys have dealt a devastating blow. With their team’s base, called the Campus, undergoing a savage attack, the Immortal Men will have to find the one metahuman who can save them. Enter Caden Park, a teenager whose emerging powers make him sought after by not just the Immortal Men but by their enemies as well!
For the last few years one of the knocks comics fans have had against DC is the lack of new characters. With the New 52 reboot back in 2011 DC had a new lease on a lot of the more familiar faces. And they’re still having a good old time rolling out classics that haven’t been around for a while (I’m looking at you, Plastic Man!). Now though we’ve had a slew of new faces and backstories to sample in 2018. While it took them a while, you can’t say they aren’t trying. Now, will we judge Immortal Men a success or will they be a consequence of getting what we’ve wished for? As usual, there’s only one way to find out: Read it!
