Eternity Girl Faces Her Greatest Challenge: Life

Eternity Girl Young Animal

New characters in an existing world are no easy feat. Very few characters stick around for more than a couple of years. Once the spotlight’s off and their original creators move on to other projects the characters are left in limbo. Will anybody want to grow and expand their histories? Will sales justify the characters keeping a place on the shelf? Of course, to get that far, you first have to come out of the gate strong. And damn if Eternity Girl #1 isn’t a strong start for this new creation from coming out of the recent “Milk Wars” event.

Who is Eternity Girl? She’s Caroline Sharp. And she’s had to tackle several different roles throughout her now endless life. She’s been a superhero. She’s also been a super-spy for the enigmatic Alpha 13. She was at one time the best weapon in the war against evil. This is a different time. Caroline’s best days are firmly in her past. She’s a shape-shifter who can barely keep a human form anymore. She’s stuck in a depression that no amount of ordered therapy seems to be helping with. What’s got Caroline so down?

The biggest challenge for Eternity Girl is, well, eternity. Life is going to go on. She’s trapped. No matter what she does she can’t get peace. Despite the decline in controlling her powers, an “incident” that’s put her on a leave of absence, and a rebellious streak that keeps her from convincing anyone she’s going to be able to take care of herself, the biggest obstacle in her way is actually herself.

Fortunately, or maybe not, an old enemy comes to Caroline with a devil’s bargain. Madame Atom died a while ago. She’d argue that Eternity Girl should have died as well. So, she’s here to help Caroline end her endless existence. The catch? Caroline has to destroy the world. With a new character who feels like an old friend, Eternity Girl #1 is going to make a case for it’s titular character to be around for a long time.
