Retroview: Gundam ZZ Gazu R/L Suits
By Loran Alrighty, this week, I’m gonna cover some kits from Double Zeta Gundam-one from the old days, and one that’s… well, more recent. I took a bit of inspiration from Chris on this one. […]

By Christopher Troy Reissuing older toys to celebrate an anniversary is something both Western and Eastern collectors are familiar with. On this side of the world, we have seen re-released version of such properties as […]
By Loran It’s really no secret that Quattro Vageena was really Char Aznable, I mean, they stated it in the first episode. You know what’s also not a big secret? That gold mecha tend to […]
By Loran Love ‘em or hate ‘em, the amphibious mobile suits were a staple of the Principality of Zeon’s arsenal during the One Year War. They’re quite an ugly bunch of critters that seem to […]
Every once in awhile, a kit comes a long that I just have to have, and I honestly can’t explain why. It has nothing to do with the design itself, or the engineering or anything of the sort. It just calls to me. And that’s why I love this monster. […]
Otakon 2010 came and went, and it was a decent year, to say the least. Not as good as previous years, but passable, nonetheless. Of course, what I’m here to talk about is the model contest, and thanks to the presence of the BAKUC prelims, it was one of the biggest I’d ever seen. Unfortunately I couldn’t get any pictures of the entire table on Saturday thanks to some a-hole pulling the fire alarm. It went off RIGHT as my friend and I were checking on the progress of the judging. Arg. […]
After what seems like forever here at the FPNYC blog, we actually have a new Gunpla to discuss! We’ll be looking at the 1/144th scale AMS-110 Gear Doga Neo Zeon Mass Productive Mobile Suit, which aside from a long-ass name, is actually a pretty nifty kit. I’ll also be trying a new review format, so let me here what you think of it in the comment section. […]
Well guys, Otakon is drawing near. And by near I mean way too close. It’s funny, up until today it didn’t feel so close, and I wasn’t particularly excited up until today. I’ve gone for several years, but for once there was no actual buildup. Now of course, I go to cons all the time but I never talk about them here. Well, this time is an exception, because as I mentioned before, they’re holding the preliminaries for BAKUC, along with their own model contest. […]
by Christopher Troy Greetings readers! Welcome to “News from the Front”, our newest feature on the FPNYC Gundam Blog, with a title I clearly swiped from a Bad Religion song! With this new “monthly”/whenever I’m […]
By Loran The History of Gunpla comes to a conclusion in the modern era, when Bandai placed most of their money in the HGUC and MG lines, with lines just for the two Alternate Universe […]
By Loran With Gundam’s popularity waning after Gundam Wing’s success, the model kit lines died down, and Bandai began to focus more on their “nostalgic” lines like HGUC and MG. As such, there weren’t as […]
By Loran In the 90’s, Gunpla started to get a bit more complex. 1990 introduced the “grade” system, which is still used today. This era featured many kits that most people second-generation fans know from […]
by Christopher Troy Welcome back readers! I’m going to continue with the article in a minute, but I wanted to do shamelessly plug something first. Always the trendsetters, both FPNYC and I are on twitter […]
By Loran While I take a small break from GM Cannon articles to get some painting done, I figured I should go over another important topic-the many lines kits come from. Gunpla has evolved considerably […]
By Loran After many hours spent watching Legend of the Galactic Heroes on my laptop with my hobby knife in one hand and putty in the other, this kitbash is starting to come to a […]
By Loran Well now, this project has been proving to be a bit more complex than I figured. Well, actually, just as complex as I figured. After finishing up the head and waist parts, I […]
Happy belated 4th of July everyone! I assure you while you were off celebrating your independence this weekend; I was off suffering through “The Last Airbender”, which was truly terrible. […]
By Loran Every good science fiction or mecha series needs a good-guy cannonfodder of some sort, and of course, Gundam was no exception-heck, it pretty much gave it to the genre. The GM is pretty […]
By Loran This time around, in lieu of a kit review, I’m going to do something different-a build log! More specifically, a kitbash one. For… well, as many weeks as this takes me, I’m going […]
by Christopher Troy Soccer mania has swept the planet as the World Cup, which started several weeks ago , and in a surprising turn of events, America actually cared this time around. This probably had […]
