By Mat K. Welcome otaku boys and girls, and I’m dry on article titles for now. Moving forward, this week isn’t very tremendous in terms of quantity of new books coming out, despite it being […]
By Unkiedev Batman:Odyssey #5 is as classic as classic gets, with fan favorite Neal Adams returning to the iconic character that made him en ever popular artist. Amazing Spider-Man #649 has got some great talents […]
By Mat K. I know the title this week is a little dramatic, but there is practically nothing coming out this week. I know there was that one week a little while ago that absolutely […]
By Mat K. This is a good one, so I hope the title got your attention. What in the Universe am I talking about? Well let’s start with this is a pretty small week, which […]
By Mat K. What work? Well, Katsura Hoshino’s D Gray Man Volume 19 comes in this week, and I still love this series. Every volume ends on a cliffhanger, and reveals something new and interesting. […]
by Shannon Hochman Many of us who grew up in the 90’s have a grudging attitude towards the new generation of anime fans that are exploring the niche in a world that makes it far […]
By Mat K. Hello boys and girls. Yes, this week is finally Halloween. If you have kept track over the last few years, it’s one of may favorite holidays. And fortunately for the anime crowds, […]
by Ryan King The first thing you notice about TRIBES: The Dog Years (IDW), a new 200-page sci-fi graphic novel produced by SoulCraft Media, is that there really isn’t anything else out there like it. […]
By Mat K. Why is it so busy? Good question, but not really the point. The delicious fact is that after last week’s short release list, this week is chock full of books for you […]
By Mat K. Before we jump into the review, here’s what’s what with this week. There are a good handful of manga coming in this week, but that is all. I know the last couple […]
By Mat K. So, there is a lot of interesting stuff coming in this week, surely not the kind of week to scoff at, and definitely the kind of week in which you should just […]
By Mat K. Okay, some good news this week for all of the squealing fan girls out there. As you might already know, we got the Hetalia Axis Powers anime in stock a couple weeks […]
By Mat K. There are a decent amount of books coming out this week, and one title in particular made something fairly clear to me. Natsume Ono is the new Fumi Yoshinaga. “How is that?” […]
By Mat K. If anyone has met me in the last 6 months you may be aware that I adore Florence & The Machine, and you may recognize the title of this week’s article as […]
By Mat K. I know this is a day late, but it is by far not a dollar short. You may have heard the sad news last week, and if you have not, let me […]
Okay, well maybe there is, I mean I really could have done without Angelic Days, and I’m pretty sure The Shinji Ikari Raising Project was only a step above that, (by the way, if you didn’t know NGE means Neon Genesis Evangelion, which is frankly too long a title to fit anywhere other than body text). The reason I’m bringing up Evangelion is because, that’s right, there’s a brand new series! Neon Genesis Evangelion: Campus Apocalypse releases this week. Written and illustrated by someone only known as Ming Ming, which I sincerely hope is a pen name, or at least just a first name, this is a whole new spin on the fave series. In this new vision Shinji Ikari’s parents are gone, and he lives with his legal guardian, Ryoji Kaji, while attending the private NERV Academy. But no one ever told Shinji about its secrets . . . or that he’d find his fellow students Kaworu, Rei, and Asuka out on the streets late at night-fighting with sword, spear, and whip against an enemy that looks very human, but who Kaworu insists are beings called the Angels. […]
Jeez, I cannot believe this month. Last week all we get was one manga, and this week? Nothing. Well, okay there is one single item coming at us from TokyoPop, but I’m not sure if it can even be considered manga. And not for the usual reasons I don’t count half the stuff coming from TokyoPop as manga, this is going to be TokyoPop’s first legitimate single-issue comic book. Here’s the deal. You all love and remember Priest by Min-Woo Hyung (which technically makes it manhwa in the first place, but let’s not nit pick). Well coming out this week is the official comic for the upcoming Priest movie “Priest: Purgatory” that’s going to be starring Paul Bettany (Silas from The Da Vinci Code and the voice of Jarvis in Iron Man). Basically, A veil of evil threatens to engulf humanity, and one man stands in the way of the apocalypse: our hero, a fallen priest who sold his soul for the power to battle evil and fight for humanity’s redemption. […]
Yeeeah this week’s title is pretty self-explanatory. That’s right, there is a book coming out. I can only stand to guess that this is because that very last week of July was a huge release week, immediately followed by the first week of August’s ginormous release schedule. On a completely unrelated note, according to the computer not underlining the word “ginormous” with a red dotted line, I believe it has been confirmed as an official real word. Thank you Miriam Webster. […]
There may not be a whole of actual stuff coming in this week, but there are some pretty exciting titles. I think this time I’m going to start with a new title instead of your awaited favorites first. This week sees the release of Natsume Ono’s first series, (her previous books “Not Simple” and “Ristorante Paradiso” were one-shots), Gente. Ms. Ono is obviously a fan of languages and, it would seem, food. In this spin-off of Ristorante Paradiso you’re welcomed into Casetta dell’Orso, a quaint little restaurant in the heart of Rome. The food’s delicious, but the handsome staff of bespectacled gentlemen is the real draw. Follow these dashing men home and witness their romances, heartaches, hopes and dreams. […]
Mad dash? Why yes. Remember last week, when I mentioned how there were a ton of books coming out and I wasn’t sure if it was August coming early, or just a lucky week for the end of July? Well, as it turns out, July was just a very lucky month. And I mean that in the sense that just one week later, the first official release week of August, is another ton of books, both new and long awaited, that I know you are all going to be anxious to read. So let’s jump right in with the first of many interesting things, The Bleach Official Bootleg: Color Bleach+. This indispensable guide takes you behind the scenes of the shadowy world of the Soul Reapers. Read all about the illustrious Thirteen Court Guard Companies, study for the grueling entrance exam to Soul Reaper Academy, get tips on fighting effectively, take the personality quiz and more. This book includes 72 pages of full-color manga spun off from the original Bleach story. […]
