Amazing Spider-Man Applies For Venom Inc!

Amazing Spider-Man Venom Inc. Marvel Comics

Symbiote versus Symbiote! Eddie Brock versus Flash Thompson! Venom versus Agent Venom (Agent Anti-Venom?)! WHATEVER! All you need to know is that it’s getting to be a hot night in the old town over in Amazing Spider-Man #792 this week from Marvel Comics. There’s a new gang in town and they’re hunting symbiotes. And something called Maniac that’s going to rip off the faces of Black Cat and her gang. Cats and Venoms living together, mass hysteria, what are we going to do?

The Venom Inc. storyline that continues in this week’s issue of Amazing Spider-Man is just what the doctors ordered for Marvel Zombies. Certify this story as something fresh for lapsed readers to jump back into. Finally, Marvel Legacy seems to be living up to its promise with this premise. Still hesitant? Come into the shop and ask anybody working there. At the very least you’ll get a resounding, “Eh, at least there’re no clones!” And that’s true (although Clone Conspiracy was better than it had any right to be).

Dan Slott’s been at the helm of Ol’ Webhead’s adventures for over ten years. And one of his best stories of his entire run has been with Venom and the creation of Anti-Venom in the wonderful New Ways To Die arc. In many ways, this is a bit of a full circle for Mr. Slott, returning to some of his earliest days with the world of the blue and red spandex clad clown. Will there be new life breathed into this old run? So far, there’s a lot of reason to think so.

Marvel has promised no company-wide crossovers for at least another year. That hasn’t stopped them from doing big events in different corners of their unified universe. With No Surrender about to kick up for the Avengers and Phoenix: Resurrection on the rise over with the X titles, how could you expect the most beloved Marvel character on Earth to just spin his wheels? Fortunately, it looks like Mr. Moe Mentum might be residing in Queens!
