More Fall Gunpla Releases

By Loran

It’s a new quarter, and that means new Gunpla! Actually, it’s ALWAYS time to look at new Gunpla, but what the hell, let’s take a look at some new stuff coming out in the near future. As always my focus will be on High Grades and Master Grades will be clearly marked.

OK, here’s one I’m REALLY excited for, the Dra-C. This suit originally appeared in Gundam 0083 and never got a kit. Heck, I can’t even think of any resin kits at this scale of this thing. It’s a pretty obscure, almost ridiculous suit, and honestly, I’m amazed we’re getting this before some of 0083’s far cooler suits, like the Gerbera Tetra. In fact, now that I think about it, the Gerbera Tetra is the ONLY suit from 0083 that doesn’t have a new kit planned. Maybe they’re planning on sharing its parts with a Gundam GP04? A girl can dream, I guess. Anyway, I’m sure the reasoning behind releasing a Dra-C now is because of Gundam Unicorn, as you can see a few of these fly around during some of the battles, a similar case to what happened with the Dreissen from ZZ. The kit will come in the more famous 0083 colors, but knowing Bandai we’ll probably see the pink one from Unicorn somewhere down the line. The Dra-C will include a stand, since well, it can’t stand on its own, and will be released in November.

We’re also getting this before Gundam 0080’s GM Sniper II. Man, Bandai sure hates us.

Not wanting to let good molds go to waste, one of Gundam Unicorn’s Geara Zulu variants will be seeing release as well. This one is the amphibious model, known as the Zee-Zulu. Like the Jesta, I imagine it’ll be making its debut on Earth in Gundam Unicorn Episode 4. Man, I sure hate it when toys spoil what’s going to happen in the upcoming episodes. At least it’s just a grunt. Now BanRise, when are we gonna see the Banshee in the series? 😉 Like the Dra-C, the Zee Zulu will be out in November.

Here’s one I’m surprised I haven’t talked about—Gundam Sandrock from Gundam Wing! Sandrock will be the fourth of the five main Gundams from the show, leaving only Heavyarms left. I’ve gotta say, I’m surprised they didn’t choose to do them in order (ie, Wing, Deathscythe, Heavyarms, Sandrock, then Shenlong) but I guess they went by there popularity in Japan… which would mean Heavyarms is the LEAST popular of the main five in Japan! You know, I complain about Japan’s tastes compared to ours sometimes, but Sandrock more popular than Heavyarms? That’s plain blasphemy right there. I’m wondering when we’ll be seeing the rest of the Endless Waltz designs, namely Nataku/Altron. I was expecting them to do the Endless Waltz designs right after the Ver Kas, but I guess not. Sandrock will be hitting shelves in October.

Unfortunately, this fall doesn’t look as exciting for Gunpla as I originally thought. I guess after Master Gundam and Shining Gundam, there’s nowhere to go but down. Still, keep an eye out for these at FPNYC towards the end of the year!
