By Devin T. Quin Collecting comic books is a fabulous hobby! It combines some of the nicer aspects of Asperger’s syndrome with the never-ending sights and smells of rotting, musty paper. Shun humanity while you’re […]
One might expect a little more excitement from a week in the middle of the summer, but all is not lost, there are still quite a few interesting things, some old friends as well as brand new faces. Okay, enough with the personifying of manga, here’s the beef: Inu Yasha Volume 50 shows up this week, and aside from being proud that they finally picked up the pace of it’s production, we must celebrate that it finally made it to this milestone. And by celebrate, I mean buy. It seems to me lately that a lot of people still like Inu Yasha, even miss it, but by and large have lost interest in the progression of the story. Well, for anyone keen on learning the origins of the powers of the brothers’ great swords, and to see Naraku try to corrupt the purity Kagome instilled in the Shikon jewel, it is still dramatic and exciting as before. Besides, who doesn’t love watching Inu Yasha and Sesshomaru duke it out? […]
Aspen comics have managed to publish a comic book WITHOUT a half-naked lady on the cover! This is an impressive feat for them, one sure to turn over some long standing bets with bookies keeping tabs on such things. […]
By Loran While I take a small break from GM Cannon articles to get some painting done, I figured I should go over another important topic-the many lines kits come from. Gunpla has evolved considerably […]
FPNYC’s sincerest heartfelt condolences go out to the friends and family or Mr. Pekar, who passed away July 12th at the age of 70.
The Daily Planet would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Mr. Dean Haspiel, cartoonist extraordinaire and overall swell fella, on his Emmy nomination in the category of Outstanding Main Title Design for his work […]
By Loran After many hours spent watching Legend of the Galactic Heroes on my laptop with my hobby knife in one hand and putty in the other, this kitbash is starting to come to a […]
By Loran Well now, this project has been proving to be a bit more complex than I figured. Well, actually, just as complex as I figured. After finishing up the head and waist parts, I […]
It’s been a bit since The Daily Planet presented any news bytes on its most anticipated movie of 2010, so let’s check in and see what’s shaking! Empire Magazine’s new issue features, among other geeky […]

By Mat K. Well, as I’m sure everyone in the city has experienced this week, it has been Satan’s armpit in New York City, hot and humid as all hell. Fortunately, as a small consolation, […]
J.M. Straczynski has revamped Wonder Woman and, along with the considerable help of Jim Lee, redesigned her costume. This sort of thing happens.
They left her reboot fairly nebulous, so at a moments notice they can restore her former continuity. Heck, half of the plot to her reboot is her seeking the ability to restore her continuity. I guess DC thinks that’s something we’d all like to read about, though to look at that another way you could argue that DC figures people tired of Old Wonder Woman will read about the new one, and for people who liked the old one the new one will be in a quest to put things the way they were. It’s WIN WIN! […]
Happy belated 4th of July everyone! I assure you while you were off celebrating your independence this weekend; I was off suffering through “The Last Airbender”, which was truly terrible. […]
If you’re unfamiliar with the man’s quite massive and exceptional body work, Harlan Ellison is one of the great writers of the last hundred years and you simply must drop everything you’re doing and seek […]
If E.T’s out there ARE listening I hope their listening to WKCR’s (Columbia University) annual Louis Armstrong 4th of July birthday broadcast. If you can get down with 39.5 hours of Satchmo (1/4th of which […]
By Loran Every good science fiction or mecha series needs a good-guy cannonfodder of some sort, and of course, Gundam was no exception-heck, it pretty much gave it to the genre. The GM is pretty […]
By Loran This time around, in lieu of a kit review, I’m going to do something different-a build log! More specifically, a kitbash one. For… well, as many weeks as this takes me, I’m going […]
